Watch Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear’s Vintage ‘Silent Movies’ Video
Kansas City mother-son duo Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear have been riding a wave of buzz since the may release of their debut album Skeleton Crew. Now, the group has released a vintage-feeling video via Apple Music to accompany their catchy single, “Silent Movies.” The track is off the Kansas City pair’s debut album, Skeleton Crew.
The clip’s story comes from the youngest Ward and Uncle Friendly, who also directed it. In the video, a family is watching an old, black-and-white horror film before the camera takes the viewer inside the movie. There, an audience enters a room to watch a black-and-white clip of Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear performing. The duo is also in front of a screen that shows a seated audience in black-and-white as well, ending with the Wards becoming the audience and watching a screen in front of them.
Before getting signed to Glassnote Records, Madisen and Ruth Ward would perform at coffeehouses around Kansas City. They were soon featured on Letterman and CBS Sunday Morning and released Skeleton Crew in May. This summer, they joined Sufjan Stevens on tour across the U.S. and Europe and have also made the festival rounds, playing Newport Folk in July and preparing for a set at Philadelphia Folk Festival later this month.
The mother and son have announced their four-month “My Sister’s Boy” tour that kicks off in Kansas City on August 20th. Dates and tickets available at their official site.
