Watch Anderson Paak Embark on Surreal Odyssey in Epic New Video
Anderson .Paak journeys through several striking, vibrant worlds in the sprawling video for Malibu tracks "The Season / Carry Me" and "The Waters."
.Paak and Chris Le co-directed the clip, which blends the grainy feel of classic films with an off-kilter collage aesthetic. In the first sequence, .Paak picks psychedelic strawberries in the pouring rain before doling out soup in a horrific "Hell's Kitchen." The crummy work gets even worse when, while taking out the trash, .Paak opens a door to a junkyard wasteland ruled by a garbage monster with Donald Trump's face.
During the "Carry Me" section, .Paak unravels tales from a tortured childhood to a therapist and then seeks salvation from a group of white-robed believers, who happily baptize him. In the final section, for "The Waters," .Paak finally finds pure joy and spits the buoyant cut alongside BJ the Chicago Kid in front of a surreal, inky, underwater backdrop.
.Paak released Malibu in January and has been on the road for much of the year in support of the album. After wrapping up a European trek this month, he'll return to the U.S. and play a handful of shows throughout the fall.
