Two Shot at T.I. and Jeezy Concert in North Carolina

Two people were shot after gunfire marred a Charlotte, North Carolina concert that featured T.I., Jeezy, Yo Gotti and Diddy. One man and one woman were hospitalized after the shooting at the Label club, which was hosting an annual CIAA Weekend Takeover party. “One person drove themselves to the hospital and one person was transported by ambulance. Both are non-life-threatening injuries,” Captain J.D. Thomas of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department told USA Today.

There are conflicting reports regarding when the shots were fired. USA Today and numerous Instagram accounts belonging to people who witnessed the incident report that the shooting occurred while Jeezy, T.I. and Yo Gotti were on stage. (Diddy, who tweeted about his appearance earlier in the day, was scheduled to perform later in the night.) However, TMZ writes that the rappers’ sets had already finished when the shots range out at Label. In either case, the rappers were rushed out immediately following the shooting.

And just like that someone ruins a poppin day party. Praying for the people who are hurt #CIAA

The night before the shooting, T.I. and Lil Wayne hosted a different event at Label. Despite the gunfire, Label issued a statement that read, “The exact circumstances concerning the incident have yet to be determined. Officials at Label are cooperating with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department concerning their investigation of this matter. Tonight’s events at Label will take place as scheduled. It should be noted that there will continue to be very substantial security for all Label events during tournament weekend.”

According to the Charlotte Observer, an eerily similar incident occurred last year at the CIAA Weekend Takeover, which takes place during the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association’s annual basketball tournament in the North Carolina city. In that shooting, which also happened at a party where Diddy was scheduled to perform, two men were shot in the leg. The situation is also reminiscent to the January nightclub shooting in San Jose, California where a Chris Brown performance was cut short after gunfire rang out in the crowd, injuring five.
