T.I. Gets Lost In The Desert In New ‘Hello’ Video

By Maurice Bobb

As a respected thespian, T.I. doesn’t take his music videos lightly. For his latest cinematic vision, the new video for “Hello,” which premiered exclusively on MTV Tuesday (May 21), the Grand Hustle CEO tapped director Marc Klasfeld for an introspective romp through the desert.

The veteran auteur, who has directed over two hundred music videos for the likes of Kid Rock, Nelly and Jay-Z, used Denzel Washington’s post-apocalyptic action film “The Book of Eli” as his muse, placing the King of the South, along with featured vocalist Cee-Lo, who is oddly clad in all leather in the heat, on the range, with only his suitcase and a stunning chromed-out old school Lincoln with suicide doors.

The clip’s message is simple: Tip has to stay on the path, even while haters tempt him or try to diverge him from what he must do/accomplish. Fans of the Trouble Man: Heavy Is The Head MC’s reality show, “T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle,” will get a kick out the visual, as his son, made up with cat face paint, and the rest of the Harris clan make cameos throughout.

At the 2:30 mark, Tip falls for a big butt and a smile, gets out of the car to follow a woman, only to be jacked for his whip by a couple of teens. The Atlanta rapper then feigns surprise and stumbles into a saloon where his wife Tiny is singing and drinks are flowing freely. He then falls asleep at the bar and, as if dreaming, the sequence rewinds to the beginning, where he opens his briefcase and smiles at its mysterious contents.

Beginning July 9, T.I. can be seen performing alongside Lil Wayne for their upcoming “America’s Most Wanted” tour. The duo can also be seen in the new video “Wit Me,” which as released a day before “Hello.”
