Rascal Flatts Tap Craig Wayne Boyd to Open Las Vegas Residency Shows
Craig Wayne Boyd, who shot to country stardom as the winner of NBC’s The Voice last month, is now headed to Las Vegas to be the opening act for Rascal Flatts’ “Vegas Riot!” residency at the Joint, a 4,500-seat venue inside the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
The nine-show run for the country supergroup and the Team Blake champ begins February 25th and wraps up on March 14th — a run of dates that mark the first ever Las Vegas club residency by a country artist. (Former Vegas showroom residencies include Garth Brooks, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw, and Shania Twain.)
“I am so honored and excited to join Rascal Flatts in what will be an epic group of shows at Hard Rock Hotel,” Boyd says. “It is yet another check mark on my bucket list of things that I previously only dreamed of.”
A native of Mesquite, Texas, Boyd helped Shelton claim his fourth victory as a coach on the TV singing competition. He went on to rewrite country music chart history less than two weeks after being crowned the Season Seven winner, when his first single, “My Baby’s Got a Smile on Her Face,” became only the second single to ever debut at Number One. That feat was previously accomplished by Garth Brooks’ “More Than a Memory” in 2007.
Boyd will release an album later this year via Nashville’s newly revitalized Dot Records. The music company falls under the Big Machine Label Group, which has released the last three Rascal Flatts albums.
