“I was hoping for a summer soiree, but this is not quite that,” said Diane Kruger at last night’s Young Friends of ACRIA fete. She was, of course, referencing the evening’s torrential downpours, which guests such as Liu Wen, Martha Hunt, and Jacquelyn Jablonski had to navigate in open-toe stilettos and airy frocks on their way into Chelsea’s The Glasshouses.
Hosted by Jason Wu, the event aimed to raise awareness and funds for AIDS research through the sale of collaborative T-shirts. Wu partnered with artist Nate Lowman on a graphic design. “Nate’s a friend, and I looked no further than him when I came to be involved in ACRIA,” he said.
Kate Young, Wu’s friend and stylist, said that she’ll be spending quite a bit of her summer in the great outdoors, rain or no. “I’m going to my house in Woodstock, and then Montauk, and I’m going glamping with my kids next weekend.” Glamping? “Glam camping! We’re staying in tree houses in the Adirondacks.”
Before sitting down to dinner, partygoers admired a display of the collaborative shirts. “I just bought one. I’m going to wear it with a red skirt,” said board member Casey Fremont Crowe. Kruger’s considering pairing hers with cutoff jean shorts on the set of The Bridge. But no one enjoyed the tops quite as much as Young. “They’re great!” she gushed. “And oh! I can wear that glamping. Wouldn’t that be awesome?”
