Radiohead Detail ‘Live From a Moon Shaped Pool’ Event
Radiohead have announced a “unique” event to take place on Friday, June 17th, the same day their new album A Moon Shaped Pool arrives on Spotify.
Dubbed Live From a Moon Shaped Pool, the event will take place at record stores globally. The band released information on a site dedicated to their new album and posted a map pinpointing record stores where fans can participate in “an exclusive day-long audio stream from the band” as well as competitions, “instructional artworks” and more events.
Radiohead released A Moon Shaped Pool in May following several teases of new music after a five-year hiatus. In December, the band debuted their unused James Bond theme “Spectre” and announced their headlining spot at Primavera in Spain where they would perform their new album in full. Concerts in the U.S. were announced soon after alongside confirmation that they would headline Lollapalooza with Red Hot Chili Peppers in Chicago.
In May, the band’s site was mysteriously revived right before the band released “Burn the Witch,” the first single off of A Moon Shaped Pool. The album and second single “Daydreaming” arrived a week later along with their first live performances in years. At Primavera, they played their hit “Creep” and OK Computer single “No Surprises” for the first time in seven years. The group marked their set at the festival by performing at least one selection off each of their nine albums for the first time in the band’s history.
