Ozzy Osbourne Enters ‘Intense Therapy’ for Sex Addiction
Ozzy Osbourne has revealed he is undergoing "intense therapy" for a sex addiction that nearly resulted in the disintegration of his marriage to wife Sharon.
In a statement to People, the singer's representative said, "Over the last six years, Ozzy Osbourne has been dealing with a sex addiction … Ozzy is mortified at what his behavior has done to his family. He thanks God that his incredible wife Sharon is at his side to support him."
In recent months, Osbourne had been rumored to be involved in an extramarital relationship with hair stylist Michelle Pugh; People writes that the affair lasted four years. In May, Ozzy Osbourne moved out of the family's marital home, signaling an end to his and Sharon's 34-year-old marriage.
Following rumors that the Black Sabbath singer's split was the result of a relapse, Osbourne said in a statement, "I have been sober for three and a quarter years. I have not touched drugs or alcohol in that time. Any reports that I am not sober are completely inaccurate." Sharon Osbourne herself addressed the rumors surrounding her marriage on her TV show The Talk.
While Osbourne downplayed his relationship with Pugh as a result of his sex addiction, Pugh called Osbourne, "the greatest love of my life."
"[Osbourne] is sorry if Ms. Pugh took their sexual relationship out of context," the singer's statement rebutted. "He would like to apologize to the other women he has been having sexual relationships with. Out of the bad comes good. Since his relationship with Ms. Pugh was exposed, Ozzy has gone into intense therapy."
