Lee Ann Womack, Indigo Girls Anchor Massive AmericanaFest Lineup
The initial lineup for the 17th annual Americana Music Festival and Conference — shorthand: AmericanaFest — has been announced and the diversity is especially impressive this year, even for a genre known for being all-inclusive.
Two of country’s most powerful female vocalists represent Nashville: Lee Ann Womack and Wynonna, who will play with her band the Big Noise. Other country-leaning acts include Sunny Sweeney, Aubrie Sellers, John Paul White, Will Hoge, and the Last Bandoleros and Luke Bell, two of Rolling Stone Country‘s Artists You Need to Know for May.
Seminal folk-rock duo the Indigo Girls are also set to perform, along with Amy Helm, Dylan LeBlanc, Green River Ordinance, Parker Millsap and bluegrass jammers the Infamous Stringdusters. New York City punk-rock frontman Jesse Malin, who will reunite with his old band D Generation to release a new album in July, is on the bill too.
AmericanaFest is held September 20th through 25th at venues throughout Nashville, with the September 21st Americana Honors and Awards the festival’s centerpiece. Nominees for the Americana Honors will be announced May 11th.
