Kelly Clarkson Cancels Tour Dates to Rest Voice

Kelly Clarkson was forced to withdraw from the remainder of her U.S. tour due to voice strain. “So bummed that I have to cancel some of my tour dates. This kills me, but doctors are saying I need to rest my voice,” Clarkson wrote in a series of tweets Saturday. “I can’t wait to get healthy and see y’all back on the road soon. I hate canceling and I am truly sorry to my fans that have been excited to see this show. Please know that I never cancel anything unless it’s absolutely necessary.”

Clarkson’s official site confirmed that the singer was acting on “instruction by several doctors.” The affected dates include Sunday night’s performance in Vienna, Virginia, a pair of Florida concerts, a September 19th gig in Raleigh, North Carolina and the leg-ending stop the following night in Camden, New Jersey. Refunds for all six concerts are available at the point of purchase.

As Entertainment Tonight notes, Clarkson suffered from some major vocal problems in June 2014 following the birth of her daughter, with the former American Idol winner revealing she thought she had lost her voice for good. “I literally had a moment where I cried and drank wine all day,” Clarkson said at the time. “I was like, ‘Oh, God, I’m not going to be a singer anymore!’ I was bawling to my husband and like, completely hammered, just going, ‘Oh my God, it’s over, I don’t know what I’m going to do. I guess I could do more charity work.’ Like, I didn’t know what I was going to do.”

Barring any more setbacks, Clarkson is scheduled to resume her trek in support of Piece By Piece October 1st at Kanata, Ontario’s Canadian Tire Centre.
