Kanye West’s Yeezus Album Not Up For Pre-Order

Kanye West’s Yeezus Album Not Up For Pre-Order

Samsung Galaxy Note II New York Launch Event

If patience is not your virtue, it’ll have to be if you’re a Kanye West fan. The enigmatic rapper/producer seems to be putting the kibosh on pre-orders for his highly-anticipated sixth studio album, Yeezus, in favor of letting it go straight to purchase on its intended release date: June 18.

Jean Touitou, a known associate and collaborative muse of ‘Ye’s, took to Twitter to give insight on the plan, which, not surprisingly, mirrors that of the rollout of Yeezy’s chart-topping joint LP with Jay-Z, Watch the Throne.

“No pre order please purchase June 18,” the tweet read.

The “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” MC’s meticulous promo run hasn’t been without flaws, though. Despite his no pre-order stance, there was a pre-order link on iTunes that was up for a day before it was taken down. Then there’s the ingenious video projection premiere for “New Slaves,” which got worldwide press for screening on 66 buildings across the globe. The subsequent screenings met with technical difficulties. In Houston, the planned screening at Rothko Chapel was nixed by police and the screening on the Alamo enraged San Antonio residents.

Those flubs notwithstanding, the My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy rapper’s old school approach to his album release is commendable and still on target thanks to an appearance on “Saturday Night Live,” where he performed another politically-charged track, “Black Skinhead,” which was a rousing success.

Rumors abound on what Yeezus’ official cover art will look like, but it looks like Touitou will definitely have something to do with it.
