Kanye West to Launch Pop-Up Shops Worldwide
Kanye West has announced he will be launching The Life of Pablo pop-up shops worldwide this weekend. The rapper unveiled the news via Twitter.
"21 Pablo stores worldwide this weekend. Locations here," he tweeted with a map of the globe indicating where the temporary stores will be located. Locales include several cities in the United States, including his hometown of Chicago, Detroit and several along the West and East Coasts, along with Toronto, London, Berlin, Capetown, and two in Australia.
In March, the rapper launched a New York City pop-up shop, which was open for three days. As Rolling Stone reported at the time, there was a several-hours wait during one of the days the Soho shop existed, and the store closed its doors to new customers around 8 p.m.
West has become a seeming master at the pop-up shop and building a solid buzz surrounding them. He also launched pop-up shops for previous albums, including for 2013's Yeezus and in 2011 for his album collaboration with Jay Z, Watch the Throne. While the latter's only merchandise was the album itself, his Yeezus store housed Yeezus-styled merchandise.
Though West himself has not yet indicated what would be available for purchase at this weekend's The Life of Pablo pop-ups, nor has he indicate specific times and days for the temporary merchandise spots, Vogue reports that each of the location's pop-ups will be around for three days and West will reveal exact locations 24 hours before they open via West's official website.
The magazine also unveiled that each location will feature its city's name written on T-shirts and hoodies in the gothic-styled script of artist/West collaborator Cali Thornhill DeWitt, whose work has been featured on several TLOP merchandise designs.
