Janet Jackson Postpones Unbreakable Tour to Undergo Surgery

While LCD Soundsystem, Radiohead, Green Day and the Weeknd were showering fans with Christmas cheer, Janet Jackson unfortunately had a lump of coal to deliver: The singer was forced to postpone her Unbreakable World Tour effective immediately after doctors recommended that she undergo an unspecified surgery. “I need you to know, I learned today, from my doctors that I must have surgery soon,” Jackson wrote on social media. “It breaks my heart to tell you that I am forced to postpone the Unbreakable Tour until the spring.”

In October, Jackson postponed a handful of concerts in order to rest her vocal cords. The singer didn’t clarify whether her surgery is related to a similar ailment. “Please pray for me, my family and our entire company during this difficult time. There will be no further comment,” Jackson added. “I love you all so much and am ever grateful for your understanding and your love. Gon’ b alright.”

Jackson’s next Unbreakable concert was set for January 9th in Denver, Colorado, which itself was a rescheduled performance. It’s unclear how many concerts will be affected by the postponement or when the tour will resume. “Every date will be rescheduled,” Jackson promised in her statement. “Please hold on to your tickets. They will be honored in a special way when the new schedule is announced.”

The upcoming North American leg of the Unbreakable World Tour spanned 30 dates and was scheduled to conclude March 9th in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. After that, the Unbreakable trek picks up March 30th with a 19-date European leg before it travels back stateside for an additional 24 North American shows.
