David Bowie’s Former New York Apartment for Sale

David Bowie‘s former New York apartment, where the rock legend lived for a decade and is still home to one of his pianos, is on the market.

Bowie and his wife Iman lived in the 3-bedroom Central Park South apartment, listed now at just under $6.5 million, from 1992 to 2002. Although the couple relocated 15 years ago, Bowie’s “pristine” Yamaha piano still resides in the property’s living room, according to the Corcoran listing.

Deep-pocketed Bowie fans can also bear witness to the stunning Central Park view that the Thin White Duke enjoyed for 10 years. “Large picture windows frame a clear and direct view of the incomparable Central Park,” the listing continues. “Look onto the perfect landscape, enjoy the serenity of the trees and flanked by the historic and commanding buildings, the view is not to be missed.”

As Forbes notes (via Pitchfork), when Bowie and Iman lived in the apartment, the master bathroom was converted into a panic room in case an unwanted visitor managed to infiltrate the apartment. However, that panic room has since been transformed back into a master bathroom.

Bowie and Iman eventually moved into a SoHo property that Bowie purchased in 1999. The rocker left that apartment to Iman as part of his $100 million estate; another property in upstate New York was left to Bowie and Iman’s daughter, Alexandria.
