Chance The Rapper Has ‘Special Talent,’ J. Cole Says

(J.Cole and Chance the Rapper meet on ‘RapFix Live’)

Chance the Rapper is already having a big year, and things are only looking up from here.  His Acid Rap mixtape is making huge waves, he performed his first headlining show at SOBs in New York City on Thursday night (June 20), and when he visited “RapFix Live” earlier in the week, he had the opportunity to meet J.Cole, who have him a rare co-sign.

“I respect that kid,” Cole said, going on to explain how he first came across his music. “The only reason I even found out is because I was in the studio with Ab-Soul in new York and I just happened to be on the blogs and I seen a song by some kid named Chance the Rapper featuring Ab-Soul and since I just seen Soul I thought, ‘lemme just click this.’

One listen of “Smoke Again” was all it took. “One play and I knew…[he’s a] special talent.”

“I haven’t co-signed anybody really since Kendrick, way before he even had a deal, and I feel the same way [about Chance],” Cole added, telling him, “Your thing is that special. Acid Rap is that special.”

Chance put on an impressive show at SOBs on Thursday night, performing hits from Acid Rap including “Smoke Again” “Good Ass Intro” and “Juice,” plus #10Day cuts like  “Hey Ma” in a very high energy set that ended wit him losing his shirt, spraying water all over the crowd and riffing on the chorus of French Montana’s “Ain’t Worried About Nothin.”
