Adam Levine Offered to Pay for Christina Grimmie’s Funeral

Adam Levine has offered to pay for the funeral of Christina Grimmie, his former team member on The Voice Season Six, who was shot and killed last week following a concert in Orlando. Grimmie’s brother Marcus wrote on Facebook early Monday morning that the Maroon 5 singer “personally called my mother and said he will pay for the funeral and her plane flight.”

Grimmie’s manager, Brian Teefey, created a GoFundMe campaign to assist the late singer’s family. It has earned over $169,000 as of this writing, eclipsing its $4,000 goal.

The 22-year-old Grimmie was shot and killed on June 10th while signing autographs during a fan meet-and-greet after her show with band Before You Exit. The gunman, Kevin James Loibl, 27, fatally shot himself after Marcus tackled him to the ground. Grimmie died hours later at the hospital. An Orlando police spokeswoman called Marcus “a hero for saving and stopping him from not hurting anyone else.”

“Behati and I are absolutely devastated and heartbroken by Christina Grimmie’s death,” Levine tweeted after hearing the news, linking a picture of himself with Grimmie. “Our hearts go out to her family.”

“Christina was a natural, a gifted talent that comes along so rarely,” he added in a statement. ”This is yet another senseless act of extreme violence. I am left stunned and confused how these things can conceivably continue to happen in our world.”

“I’m stunned and disgusted and heartbroken that we lost that sweet little girl,” added Voice judge Blake Shelton. “Keeping [the Grimmie] family in my heart and mind.”

“So sad passing,” wrote Christina Aguilera. “Beautiful member of The Voice family & true fighter. My heart goes out to her family, friends & fans.”
